Okay, first of all, Sonic is the main character, meaning he's going to be AT LEAST shown ONCE in a Sonic game, even if its "Shadow the Hedgehog" the video game, He STILL shows up. Sonic is not ONLY the main character, but he's SEGA's mascot.
(SEGA is the company that created the Sonic Series.) So, let's go ALL the way back to the beginning of Sonic! And by that, I mean 1991. That's when the First EVER Sonic game was created! In 1991 Sonic looked very different from the more Modern Sonic from 2014 Sonic. Here's a difference picture. :)
Before Sonic was created, Nintendo ruled over ANY digital game. Until, the game "Sonic the Hedgehog" was released. EVERYONE started buying SEGA's Game System called "the SEGA Genesis" Later on, meaning in, the game "Sonic Adventure,"
They gave Sonic green eyes. Most people weren't happy about this, but I didn't have a problem with it. Mainly because when I started liking Sonic, he already had his green eyes. o3o So, wasn't that different for me XD SEGA started making more and more video games and characters. :) Hope you liked it! c:
